Spring finally showed itself in rural Bedfordshire this evening and with it, a field of 17 riders took to the sporting Briercliffe course. A mild south-westerly breeze did not seem to add any real advantage to riders’ times this evening.
Regular stalwart Paul Riley was sitting this one out, instead taking on the role of pusher off (rumour has it that it was due to stipulations in his new contract with pro-am team ‘Stannah Racing’).
A fine effort from James Gomm who was indulging at a wedding reception 24 hours beforehand. As I type this we are still awaiting stewards test results, due to a large intake of various cheeses, possibly affecting his performance. It was great to see the father and son pairing of Steve and Ben Robinson putting in a strong performance on the TSE tandem.
Fastest time of the evening went to Jim Moffat (CC Luton), with a time of 23.30. Fastest Nomad of the evening was Nigel Hale with a time of 23.52.
Thanks to Frank Turner for time keeping duties and Paul Riley for pushing off.
