Boxing Day 10 Results – 2018

Boxing Day 10 Results Board

Promoted for and on behalf of Cycling Time Trials – Under its rules and regulations

The Hitchin Nomads CC Boxing Day 10 took place for what is thought to be the 49th time, and was once again blessed with good conditions out on the course for the time of year.  The results are attached above, in starting order, the podium times being somewhat superfluous for this Event that is more about getting together with like minded Club Mates and local rivals to stretch one’s legs after the previous days excesses and having some friendly banter back at HQ after.

That said, the fastest rider on scratch was Lindz Barral of JCA-Equipe-Velo.  Barral claims to have not been on his bike since September having taken up r*nning.  Of the Nomads, Ross Thomson was just six seconds adrift from Barral and is looking good for some strong performances next season.  Taking the arcane handicapping system into account, on-the-day entrant Mark Anstee of Pedalworks was quickest with the Nomads’ Nick Senechal  close behind.

The Event Trophy for “most meritorious ride” was awarded by Frank Turner to the 2-up Team of Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez.  Pretty much the slowest ride of the day, but perhaps the most elegant?  Various other superheroes also took part, along with Santa Claus and his helpers.

Note on handicapping: Solid tyres -13.5% (none this year so not shown in the results); pre-1987 machine 4 secs per year; pre-1950 machine 4 secs per year (so 8 secs per year in total); rider >40 yrs 12 secs per year; >47 yrs additional 1 sec per year; >55 additional 1 sec per year; >63 additional 1 sec per year; >71 additional 1 sec per year; >79 additional 1 sec per year.

Lost property: One red long-sleeved cycling jersey with a mini pump in the pocket was left at the start line and taken back to HQ but not collected.  Contact Nick if it is yours so a return can be arranged.
