A typical autumnal, dank, drizzle-filled, overcast morning greeted our intrepid competitors as they prepared for what was set to be an epic battle of muscle and sinew against gravity and gradient.
Ross T. had a puncture during his warm-up and missed the start of a thrillingly close battle. Catherine Jones took the women’s title and in the Men’s competition less than 1.5 seconds separated 1st and 2nd.
The middle of the field had to contend with three horses descending towards them down the lane as they climbed but with a batch of riders hitting just over the one and a half minutes it’s hard to say they were put off.
